Two hours norte from Atascadero with a toddler, and we survived! Gilroy Gardens (kids amusement park) is absolute paradise for the little guy—think garlic-themed tilt-a-whirls, slow trains, and giant trees. I was mostly just holding on for dear life on the artichoke ride, but hey, the kid gave it five stars.
